Marketing Engineer & Strategic Growth Advisor

PhD, LLM, LLB (University of Birmingham)

Architecting high-intent pipeline engines and commercial positioning for startups, lean tech teams and specialist consultancies.

I bridge the gap between complex technical capabilities and business engagement. By combining deep-tech fluency, regulatory and grant scheme intelligence, and rigorous pipeline telemetry, I build systems that filter out general market noise and surface relevant, well-researched commercial opportunities.

How I Approach Strategy, Marketing & Growth

I don’t treat business development as a collection of disconnected marketing activities. For specialist businesses, growth depends on translating technical expertise into a clear market proposition, identifying where it meets commercial demand, and building the systems to turn prospects into business relationships.

In specialist technical fields, this requires well-engineered marketing infrastructure. Opportunities are often project-driven, emerging around procurement and funding cycles or new technologies. Identifying them requires ongoing research, monitoring and analysis, followed by careful account prioritisation and targeted engagement. I use automation to extend the reach and depth of this work, while applying commercial judgement to distinguish meaningful openings and pursue them from the correct angle.

Core Expertise & Systems Architecture

  • Pipeline & Conversion Architecture: Designing end-to-end buyer journeys, integrating marketing channels and CRM systems, and developing lead capture, tracking and qualification processes to support a more structured approach to business development.
  • Technical Market Positioning: Translating complex engineering, scientific and specialist technical capabilities into clear commercial propositions and industry-facing communications that help prospective customers understand the value and relevance of specialist products, services and expertise.
  • Grant & Opportunity Intelligence: Monitoring and researching grant programmes, Requests for Startups, technology challenges, tenders, research consortia and partnership opportunities. Assessing eligibility, technical requirements, participation models and commercial relevance to identify opportunities aligned with a business’s capabilities and priorities.
  • Account-Based Outreach & ICP Scoring: Developing ideal customer profiles (ICPs), identifying relevant target organisations and prioritising accounts based on commercial potential, budget, technical requirements and internal capability gaps. Replacing broad, low-intent targeting with focused, research-led outreach.

Track Record & Commercial Strategy

My approach to business development is structural, not promotional. Drawing on an academic background in international commercial law and work experience across enterprise environments, boutique business consultancies and specialist tech firms, I have helped lean teams refine their market positioning, develop commercial propositions and build business development infrastructure across a range of specialist sectors.

Selected Publications, Industry Commentary & Research

My published work reflects an approach that runs through my wider professional practice: connecting specialist knowledge and real-world developments with their practical commercial implications. Whether analysing a technical engineering subject, commenting on a legal ruling, or examining changes in renewable energy policy, my focus is on explaining what these developments mean in practice — for businesses, professionals and consumers, and the decisions they need to make.

My work has appeared in academic law journals, specialist engineering and construction publications, and wider business and media outlets.
